Paul Harvey’s 1965 “If I Were the Devil…”
Famous radio personality, Paul Harvey, first went on the air in 1933 with syndicated broadcasts such as “The Rest of the Story.” As a devout Christian, he was deeply concerned with the path of immorality that America was headed on.
His speech, “If I Were the Devil, Our Father Who Art in Washington” is an eerie prediction of today’s cultural decay.
“In other words,” he concludes at the end, “if I were the devil, I’d just keep right on doing what he’s doing.”
