California Man Sentenced to Life for Child Sex Crimes
A California man has been sentenced to life in federal prison for buying Filipino children for sex and pornography. Prosecutors referred to it as one of the most “lurid, willful, and disturbing” child exploitation cases in the nation.
Michael Clemens, a former pilot, was sentenced Tuesday. Clemans’ crimes included flying from the United States to Manila with the specific purpose of raping minors.
“Advances in technology have escalated both the horrific nature and pervasiveness of these violent crimes,” US Attorney McGregor Scott said. “Predators become more innovative in finding vulnerable children both domestically and abroad to exploit.”
