Important Update From The Jesus Alliance
As a faithful follower and supporter of The Jesus Alliance, I wanted you to be among the first to know about big changes at The Jesus Alliance. After months of prayer, I nominated my good friend, Michael Phillips, to be my replacement as CEO. Earlier this month, our Board of Directors unanimously approved the measure. God has been moving in this ministry since the day I had the vision for it, and we undoubtedly feel His hand guiding this very exciting transition. As a board member for several years, Michael has been an insightful contributor and supporter of The Jesus Alliance and I’m pleased to report that, now as CEO, he has already assumed control and is working daily to take the ministry to the next level.
As to why I stepped down at this time; as many of you are aware I have Macular Degeneration which is currently incurable and means I’m losing my eyesight daily. I can no longer drive safely at night which curtailed much of the travel that was necessary for that position. Further, the Lord showed me that younger leadership was necessary in order to keep the ministry vibrant and appeal to the younger generation. Finally, I’ve been an entrepreneur for the past several decades. An entrepreneur receives vision and implements it to get an entity started and builds it to a solid level. Then, they turn it over to operations people to take it from there and add people as necessary until it reaches its full potential, which in The Jesus Alliance’s case is unlimited.
I have accomplished my mission for the Lord and though I will remain on the Board, I will step aside and allow Michael the freedom he needs to build the organization. It will be Michael that you primarily hear from in the future and I have no doubts that he will do an excellent job in keeping you informed far better than I.
I’ve been praying for some two years that a successor would come forth who could further the ministry. Michael is just such a man and importantly he shares the exact same vision that God has given me for the ministry. Under my leadership We have reached a phenomenal amount of people for the Lord and added a large number of faithful followers to our ranks, we are debt-free, and have a solid foundation upon which to build. Importantly, the vision for the ministry will remain the same as will its name, The Jesus Alliance. When the Lord revealed Michael as the next servant leader of this ministry, He also brought Michael’s NeedServ ministry which was established to help the church show the love of Christ to the world by matching the unique gifts and skills of those who want to help others with the specific needs of those who need it most. NeedServ will provide our followers with tangible opportunities to serve God by serving others. The Jesus Alliance was established by God to unify, equip, mobilize, and act. The “act” part of the equation has been lacking because heretofore we have been limited in offering opportunities to those who want to do something for the Lord. With NeedServ, there will be plenty of opportunities to serve Jesus in visible ways.
The Jesus Alliance is uniting, equipping, & mobilizing Christ-followers around the world to counter billions of negative and anti-faith media attacks with messages of truth, hope, and the unconditional love of Jesus Christ – together we can rebuild a Godly culture.
